In lieu of gifts, we ask that our guests make a contribution to one or more of the charitable causes listed below via our charity fund. Just use the "Give a Gift" button at the bottom of the page. Don't worry, we'll still send you a thank you note!
American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (National Capital Area)
Like many, our lives have been affected by mental health issues. Our friend (and groomsman) Taylor is on the board of the National Capital Area chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention ("AFSP"), an organization dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.
Bread for the City
After the wedding, we'll be returning home to our nation's capital (and Scott's home town) Washington, D.C., where we volunteer with Bread for the City, a local organization that provides a range of services to Washingtonians in need, ranging from food and shelter to legal and social services.
Cancer Research Institute
While we've faced many challenges together as a couple, none has been so daunting as the prospect of our friends and loved ones having cancer. Established in 1953, the Cancer Research Institute is one of the leading non-profits supporting cancer-related research and trials.
Global Emergency Response Coalition
Both of us have spent a substantial part of our careers working on development and foreign affairs issues in Africa and the Middle East. Much of this region is now facing a famine of a scale not seen since 1945, with as many as 20 million people at risk of starvation. The Global Emergency Response Coalition is a coalition of eight leading humanitarian organizations working to provide relief to those affected.
International Refugee Assistance Project
We met in Iraq, a country at the heart of what has become an unprecedented global refugee crisis involving more than 65 million forcibly displaced persons. The International Refugee Assistance Project (or "IRAP") -- which Scott helped start as a law student -- is one of the United States' leading organizations in the effort to advocate on behalf of and provide badly needed legal assistance to these populations.
Metro Caring
Elizabeth grew up in Denver, Colorado, less than an hour from our wedding venue. There her family supports and frequently volunteers with Metro Caring, a local organization that helps to provide food to Denverites in need and seeks to address the underlying causes of poverty.
